The #YESALLWOMEN project was an immersive experience, fusing art and activism, to benefit the East Los Angeles Women’s Center, whose programs supported 8,300 Los Angeles women, girls, and families affected by violence last year.
Our project’s mission was to transfer the momentum of the original #YESALLWOMEN online hashtag campaign–which generated 1.4 million tweets in its first four days of use–into a community-oriented experience, where the act of unity can empower us all and benefit those in need.
The project engaged the Los Angeles community in a live version of the original #YESALLWOMEN online conversation in a beautifully curated experience- hosted by Rose McGowan. For one night only, the work of fifteen inspiring visual artists were displayed at Dilettante, in the DTLA arts district, and auctioned through Paddle8. The night showcased thought-provoking installations, and guests will were treated to an evening of ferocious performances in the fields of music, dance, film, poetry, and performance art, from creative warriors whose work is a call to action on behalf of women everywhere.
The silent and online auction featured works by: Yun Bai, Amanda Charchian, Mira Dancy, Ariana Delawari, Amanda Demme, Zackary Drucker, Alexandra Grant, Snövit Hedstierna, Cole James, Barbara Kruger, Tasya van Ree, Favianna Rodriguez, Xaviera Simmons, Linda Vallejo. The show also include installations by Amanda Demme, Kim Gordon, Kathleen Hanna, Drue Kataoka, Jannike Sommar, Linda Vallejo, and film and music contributions by Rose McGowan, Sarah Sophie Flicker + Maxmilla Lukacs, and music by Deap Vally.
